The landmark of the municipality of Meggen is unique in every respect. Stately Meggenhorn Castle lies on a promontory above the Lake Lucerne basin just a few kilometres from the gates of the city. Labyrinthine paths run through the extensive, well-kept grounds down to the lake shore. Even large steamboats can moor at the castle's own jetty – an attractive benefit for your celebration.
The castle received its present form circa 1870, having been modelled on the Château de Chambord in the Loire Valley. The construction of neo-Gothic castle chapel dates back to 1886. The municipality of Meggen acquired the castle, grounds and estate in 1974, since when the grounds have been open to the public.
